Privacy Policy - Sizzle AI

Sizzle AI ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Sizzle AI mobile application for iOS and Android (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information

You can use the App as a guest. Guests receive an anonymous account identifier and no name or email address is collected.

If you sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive the following from the provider through Firebase Authentication:

• Name
• Email address (with Sign in with Apple this may be a private relay address if you choose "Hide My Email")
• Profile photo link, if your provider supplies one
• A unique user identifier (UID)

This information is used to sign you in, show which account you are using, and keep your recipes and credits tied to your account.

Recipe requests

When you ask the App for a recipe, we process the text you enter, the ingredients you select, the allergies or dietary restrictions you have set, and your app language.

Photos you scan (Premium)

Premium users can take or choose up to three photos of their fridge or pantry so the App can add the food it sees to their kitchen. The App asks for camera or photo access only when you use this feature. The photos are sent to our servers and to Anthropic only to detect the ingredients. They are processed in memory and are not saved to our database or storage, and they are not written to our logs. We keep only a count of your scans to apply a fair-use limit.

Generated recipes

Recipes created for you, their photos, and your recent, saved, and favorite recipe lists are stored in our cloud database and linked to your account so you can access them later.

Credits and purchases

We store your credit balance and subscription status. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); we never receive your payment card details. We use RevenueCat to verify purchases and manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and your account identifier.

Technical and diagnostic information

• Platform (iOS or Android) and app version
• App usage events through Google Analytics for Firebase, such as creating, saving, or sharing a recipe, starting cooking mode, scanning a photo, or viewing the Premium screen. These events are linked to your account identifier and Premium status, not to your name or email address, and they do not include your recipe requests or photos.
• Crash reports through Firebase Crashlytics (device model, OS version, and technical details of the crash). Crash reports are not linked to your name or email address.
• Integrity signals through Firebase App Check (Apple App Attest / DeviceCheck or Google Play Integrity) to protect the service from abuse
• IP address and request logs that our servers process when the App communicates with them

Information stored only on your device

Your kitchen inventory, shopping list, allergy settings, and language preference are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. Ingredients and allergies are only sent as part of a recipe request, as described above. If you send feedback, it is sent through your own email app.

Reminders, such as kitchen items that are about to expire or free recipes becoming available again, are scheduled as local notifications on your device and are shown only if you allow notifications. When you share a recipe, the App creates the text and image card on your device and hands them to your device's share menu; we do not see who you share with.

How We Use Information

• To generate recipes and recipe photos for you, and to find ingredients in photos you scan
• To create and manage your account, credits, and subscriptions
• To keep the service secure, for example through rate limits and abuse prevention
• To diagnose crashes and fix bugs
• To understand which features are used so we can improve the App

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We use Google Analytics for Firebase only to measure how the App's features are used.

AI Providers and Your Consent

Recipes are generated by third-party AI services. Before your first recipe request, the App explains this and asks for your permission. If you do not agree, no request is sent and no recipe is generated.

• Anthropic (Claude) creates the recipe text. It receives your request text, selected ingredients, allergy or dietary restrictions, and app language. If you use photo scanning, it also receives the photos you scan. Anthropic Privacy Policy

We do not send your name, email address, or account identifier to these AI providers. Under their business API terms, these providers do not use data submitted through their APIs to train their models by default, and they may retain it for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring.

Service Providers

We share information only with the service providers we need to run the App. Each provider processes data on our behalf or under its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase: Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Crashlytics, App Check, Google Analytics for Firebase (hosting, infrastructure, and usage analytics)
• Anthropic: recipe text generation and ingredient detection in scanned photos
• OpenAI: recipe photo generation
• RevenueCat: purchase verification and subscription management
• Apple: Sign in with Apple and App Store payments
• Google: Google Sign-In and Google Play payments

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Data Retention

• Account information, generated recipes, recipe photos, and credit data are kept until you delete your account.
• Photos you scan are not stored; they are discarded once the ingredients have been detected.
• Crash reports and analytics events are kept for a limited period according to Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics retention settings.
• AI providers keep request data only for the limited period described in their policies.
• Purchase records may be kept by RevenueCat, Apple, or Google for as long as required for accounting and legal obligations.

Deleting Your Account

If you are signed in, you can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, your generated recipes and photos, your recipe lists, and the data stored on your device.

Guest users can delete the data on their device by uninstalling the App, and can ask us by email to delete their guest data from our servers.

Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Please cancel subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Data Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access to our database is restricted so that users can only read their own data, and recipes can only be created by our servers. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children's Privacy

Sizzle AI is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

International Data Transfers

Our servers and service providers are located primarily in the United States. By using the App, your information may be processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection laws.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU or KVKK in Türkiye), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
